One of my favorite holidays: Valentine’s Day! Love the colors, the cute details and celebrating LOVE! It used to be that I took Valentine’s Day week to surprise my husband with a date and then he would take another week to surprise me. Seven years ago, he surprised me with a proposal!! Our surprises still live on, but not quite with the lavish spending like before, but still with creativity!
Here’s a Valentine’s Day inspired board, that goes beyond the traditional color palette to combine something fresh & fun with oranges, yellows, pinks and a splash of red!

Beautiful photos just in by the talented and very fun photographer, Scott Groller! Amanda & Kirk pulled their wedding inspiration from a true passion: the British Navy! And the California Yacht Club was the perfect venue to celebrate their special day! The bride & groom took on some key creative projects… They created a movie poster style Save The Date which we later turned into an actual poster for guests to sign day-of. They designed a very personal coat of arms that represented their family union as one; this logo that became their signature on their programs and the guest favors: engraved pilsner glasses. Each table had a different floral and artifact grouping such as colored vintage vases, brass jars, containers, candles, and the like… executed by our wonderful floral designer, Gretchen of Flower Power LA! The tables were named after real ships and Kirk designed ship table names! Their attire was adorned with special family heirlooms including tux cufflinks made from Kirk’s grandfather’s WWII Naval uniform! Loved the ship bells the guests rang in the church upon announcing Kirk & Amanda husband & wife! And beyond the signature design details was the amazing wedding experience Dave Burns and his Cover 2 Cover Music band created, along with special appearances by Kirk, his parents and Amanda’s brother- truly a talented bunch! With Spring in our near future, yellow and purple color combination provides a chic, fresh wedding look. Working with the lighter shades of the colors allows you to play with a vintage flair. Using the bolder hues gives you more of a modern feel. Which shades will you chose?
